Apple has launched its new operating system iOS 7 for iPhone and iPad. The iOS 7 is now a big talk in India and the upgrades are available on every iPhone and iPad. This new operating system has a comparatively more user-friendly user-interface as compared to its predecessor, iOS 6. However, the major changes can be found on the home screen. Here are some of the differences between the two operating systems, iOS 7 and iOS 6.
Home Screen
Major and noticeable changes have been made on the home screen. Each of the application icon has been altered and made simpler to match the new look. In addition, it features brighter colours that lend an attractive look. Changes are made to the menu bar, wallpaper, dock and cellular signal strength. Furthermore, the new iOS 7’s user interface comes in several layers. The wallpaper features at the back of the home screen icons, which is followed by notification centre and control centre, respectively. The alert and pop-up notifications are at the top. By making use of the iPhone’s accelerometer, illusion of application icons that are placed above the wallpaper is created, and by slanting the phone, users can have a glance of it. The home screen, control centre and the notification centre are semi-transparent that allows the colours of the icons visible. Besides these, the folders have been simplified by erasing the grey structure background and adding a semi-transparent effect in order to let the colour of the wallpaper glow.
Notification Centre
After the home screen, there are major alterations that are made to the notification centre. In terms of design, the grey structure background that is found in iOS 6 has been replaced with a semi-transparent effect and the Helvetica Neue font is used by this new OS. The weather widget and stock ticker has been replaced with a written description together with a note to remind an event in the calendar. The major difference that can be witnessed is that the Notification centre of iOS 6 was of just a single page, whereas, in iOS 7, it is of three pages. The notification centre of iOS 7 features Today tab, All and Missed and Splits all the application notifications that is received. Even the Siri background has been replaced by a semi-transparent effect.
Message
There is also some change in the message app of iOS 7. The light blue background is replaced by white and the highlight colour has been changed from orange to blue. However, the sent and received messages still has a green background with silver bubbles without the shine.
Multitasking
In terms of multitasking, the iOS 7 has a more refined way. Unlike its predecessor, wherein the users had to double press the home button to start or stop an application, in iOS 7, thumbnail screenshot of apps are available that displays the present status. Furthermore, the OS tracks the usage pattern of the applications and begins to pre load and update those apps, making it ready for the users to launch.
Camera
The iOS 7 comes with new features for its camera application. For switching from panorama, video and photo, users can simply swipe the button from left to right. There are array of filters that can be applied to the images, while capturing along with a new square photo-taking tool. There are no metering modes, white balance or complex aperture for capturing images like that with a professional camera but, still it is better than the previous iOS.
Other Features
Each of these applications has transparent and white design, unlike the earlier version. These applications do not have that blue bar at the top and the icons are now much simplified. The newsstand folder does not have the wooden bookshelf design and features a much simpler look that has the same colour of the wallpaper.
