She had recently received the ‘Jagjivan Ram Innovative Farmer’s Award’ by the Prime Minister for her remarkable work in mushroom farming. She is Anita Kumar a resident of Anantpur village in Nalanda district of Bihar. She has not only changed the life of her family members but has also shown a way to the other female villagers to become independent and self-sufficient. She is a wonderful example of empowerment of Indian women who are excelling in different works for making the survival easier and convenient. Life for her family was not so easy since the farmer husband had only a limited land for farming. But later on the request of the then magistrate, Sanjay Kumar Aggarwal she began her training in mushroom farming. This new venture opened up the door of opportunity for earning a good livelihood. Anita began to work in mushroom farming in the year 2010 and tried to encourage other women villagers to opt for this work. Today she is famous for her mushroom pickles and as a confident and independent woman among the villagers. After initiating this work Anita for raise her family income very well and also tried to do some innovation with the use of mushrooms. She was felicitated by our PM Shri Narendra Modi ji at the 9th National Agriculture Science Centre Workshop in Patna on July 25th 2015.
