According to a statistical analysis by US based Economists Xavier Sala and Maxim, the poverty levels of Africa as a nation as well as within the country are declining. However, United Nation's agency's report contradicts this which says that the poverty levels haven't actually declined owing to the fact that the population of Africa is also growing which takes away the economic gains. The report says that 32% Africans were under poverty in 2006 in comparison to 40% in 1996.
